Stormwater quality management plans

A Stormwater Quality Management Plan, or SWQMP, addresses stormwater quality for the proposed development. The applicable criteria and treatment approach depend on the property, proposed work, and reviewing jurisdiction.

Our scope can include evaluating applicable criteria, identifying drainage areas, selecting appropriate treatment measures, and preparing plan sheets, supporting calculations, and maintenance requirements. The project proposal defines which services and documents are included.

SWPPP design sheets and erosion control

A Stormwater Pollution Prevention Plan, or SWPPP, involves construction-phase stormwater planning. Our civil design services can include SWPPP design sheets and erosion and sediment control plans coordinated with the proposed construction.

SWPPP design sheets are distinct from the contractor's binder, worksheets, and ongoing site documentation. Those contractor-prepared materials are not included in our standard design-sheet scope. Any additional services must be specifically identified in the proposal.

Coordinate quality measures with the civil site plan

Stormwater quality measures need to fit the site's grading, drainage areas, available space, and maintenance access. Considering them alongside the drainage design helps the owner and design team understand the site improvements being proposed.

We coordinate stormwater quality and erosion control sheets with the civil plan package. Changes to the layout or drainage design may require the related stormwater documents to be revisited as the project develops.

Define the work before design begins

A project location, available survey, existing plans, and proposed improvements help identify the applicable stormwater criteria and the documents needed for the agreed scope.

The proposal identifies permitting coordination and plan preparation. Agency fees, contractor documentation, and ongoing compliance are separate unless specifically included.
